Which Projects Require Inspection?
Construction or work for which a permit is required is subject to inspection by the Building Code Department (BCD).
Requesting an Inspection
Twin Cities Campus
The person doing the work authorized by a permit must notify the Building Code Department that the work is ready for inspection. For inspections, please contact the inspector designated on your permit.
Check the appropriate inspector’s calendar for availability. The permit holder and/or person doing the work calls the inspector for an inspection request. Provide the permit number and provide the inspector with clear directions including building name, room number(s) and floor where work is being performed, and items to be addressed in the inspection. Send the inspector a follow-up email regarding the requested inspection.
Inspection requests and scheduling for all permit types for system campus locations (i.e.Crookston, Duluth, Morris) must be made using the online permit application system.
Review your permit status and inspection requirements with your project field staff to determine any required inspection needs you have for the upcoming week. Once you have determined your inspection needs, please use the BCD website to access the Accela permit log in screen to indicate your request(s) for required rough-in inspections before work is covered or final inspections before permits are closed. BCD staff will review these requests and contact you to verify scheduled times accordingly.

Any portion of work that does not comply shall be corrected and that portion of work must not be covered or concealed until authorized by the BCD.
